Scientists have established that straw provides more environmental enrichment than any ball or chain. Research conducted in the UK showed that pigs spend less than two percent of their time playing with a hanging toy, while straw keeps them occupied for more than twenty percent of the time.

Pigs with access to straw display much lower rates of tail biting. This does not mean that tail and ear biting will cease if straw is used; other factors also come into play.  However, the use of straw does act as a buffer against other inadequacies, in management, nutrition or house climate for example.

Our straw is a 100% natural product made from selected wheat straw. In the production process, the straw is chopped into 3-5 cm lengths, dust is extracted and the finished product is packaged into bales weighing approx. 20 kg.
